Ok guys here it is! due to bmw lying to me and telling me that my car needed to be plugged into special software for which i needed to pay half hour labour for I've decided to share this with the world. Don't pay to have the light reset! its not compulsory to have your car serviced at the bmw dealership! if you have had the brakes done elsewhere and changed the sensor (which you will need to do).

SIMPLY

press start button to first stage of ignition (do not start engine)

Wait for red brake sensor warning to disappear

press odometer and hold (about 15 - 20 seconds)

Hey presto you have the reset menue

Now just press and hold

Then press and hold again to reset.

If it doesn't work then reset the odometer to zero and try again.

This will not work without the sensor being changed which is a 10 min job that anyone can do. just take the wheel off and its there but only on one side.
