ZitatAlles anzeigenWith every hello must come a goodbye. We’ve said hello to the new F56 MINI Hatch and its all-turbo engine line-up; now a farewell is due the outgoing R56 MINI Hatch.
The last R56 MINI Hatch has rolled off the production line at Plant Oxford in Cowley, where over 1.04 million units of the second-gen Hatch have been made since 2006 and where more than 2.4 million MINI vehicles have been built since 2001.
The R56 MINI Hatch saw the introduction of a re-engineered platform, turbocharged Prince engines and suspension enhancements. Driving dynamics, fuel economy and performance were improved. MINI Connected appeared for the first time, while personalisation was taken to the next level with bespoke roof designs and interior colour worlds, amongst others.
It hands the baton over to the F56 MINI Hatch, which is larger, more powerful and more fuel-efficient than before. Cooper gets a 1.5 litre three-cylinder turbo petrol, Cooper S a 2.0 litre four-cylinder turbo petrol and Cooper D a 1.5 litre three-cylinder turbo diesel. The car’s set to launch in the UK next spring.
